GUITAR
Grades - 9, 10, 11, 12
Fee:  $15
This class is open to all students.  Every student in the class MUST own an acoustic guitar.  These can be purchased fairly inexpensively from Guitar Center on Florida Boulevard (near Mall of Cortana).  Students in this class will learn musical notation, basic tablature, tuning methods, chords, chord progressions, etc.  To fair well in this class, the student must actively participate and have his/her instrument every day.

JAZZ ENSEMBLE- (TR)
Grades - 9, 10, 11, 12
Fee:  $30
This class is open to all students who audition and have instructor’s approval.  This ensemble performs some of the most challenging music of any group at WHS, so only exemplary players will be chosen to play in this group, and they are chosen by audition.  The rhythm section will consist of piano, bass drums, and guitar (only one of each).  All students in this class are required to participate in the Marching Band.  Some after school rehearsals are required.  There will also be a mandatory band camp one week prior to the start of the fall semester.

ADVANCED BAND—WINDS (TR)
Grades - 9, 10, 11, 12
Fee:  $100.00
This class is open, upon instructor approval, to any student with previous training on a wind instrument (woodwind or brass).  The class will focus on advanced sound production, rhythms, and overall musicianship.  All students in this class are required to participate in Marching Band.  Some after school rehearsals are required.  There will also be a mandatory band camp one week prior to the start of the fall semester.

ADVANCED BAND—PERCUSSION (TR)
Grades - 9, 10, 11, 12
Fee:  $100.00
This class is open, upon instructor approval, to any student with previous training on a percussion instrument.  The class will focus on advanced sound production, rhythms, and overall musicianship. All students in this class are required to participate in the Marching Band.  Some after school rehearsals are required. There will also be a mandatory band camp one week prior to the start of the fall semester.

ADVANCED BAND—COLOR GUARD (TR)
Grades - 9, 10, 11, 12
Fee:  $100.00 
This class is open to all students who successfully audition for the WHS Color Guard in the previous Spring Semester.  No student will be on the Color Guard unless they audition and have the instructor’s approval—NO EXCEPTIONS!!!  All students in this class are required to participate in the Marching Band.  Some after school rehearsals are required.  There will also be a mandatory band camp one week prior to the start of the fall semester.  This course is paired with Spring Sports course for the 2^nd semester unless student selects another course for the 2^nd semester on the course request form.

GENERAL MUSIC (TR)
Grades - 9, 10, 11, 12       (Cheerleaders, Pantherettes)

Students will learn music scores, practice routines, plan drills and exercises for performances throughout the school year.  This course will not count as a Physical Education credit.  This course is paired with Spring Sports for the 2^nd semester unless students select another course for 2^nd semester on the course request form.

BEGINNER ORCHESTRA 
Grades - 9, 10, 11, 12

This course is designed for students with previous training on violin, viola, cello, and bass.

ADVANCED ORCHESTRA 
Grades - 10, 11, 12

Advanced class for students who have earned Beginner Orchestra credit.

INSTRUMENTAL ENSEMBLE 
Grades -   10, 11, 12

A forum for solo and ensemble playing.  Emphasis on individual musicality and performance practice.  Open to any musician regardless of instrument or level.  Instructor’s permission required.

VOCAL MUSIC

CHOIR, BEGINNING 
Grades - 9, 10, 11, 12

Open to students with no previous music study or vocal training.  Students will learn basic music theory, fundamentals of reading music, and vocal production.

CHORUS, ADVANCED (ACAPELLA) (TR)
Grades -    10, 11, 12
Lab Fee: $10.00
Advanced singing group; only students with previous music study and vocal training are eligible by audition with the director; requires at least two night concerts (Christmas & Spring).  Requires purchase of a uniform.  TEACHER RECOMMENDATION ONLY.

SHOW CHOIR (ENTOURAGE) (TR)
Grades - 9, 10, 11, 12
Fee:  $30.00       

A pop group that performs for many school and civic functions; requires extra curricular activity.  AUDITION REQUIRED.  Requires purchase of a uniform and possible expenses for a trip.  Outside rehearsals are a required part of this course.
