Plan Early for College
( ) 1.           DURING HIGH SCHOOL, SCHEDULE:

( ) 3-4 YEARS MATHEMATICS

( ) 3-4 YEARS SOCIAL STUDIES

( ) 3-4 YEARS SCIENCE

( )   4 YEARS ENGLISH

 

( ) 2.          CHECK WITH GUIDANCE COUNSELOR ON SELECTION OF HIGH SCHOOL COURSES THAT WILL AID YOUR COLLEGE CAREER.

 

( ) 3.           LEARN ENTRANCE REQUIREMENTS AND SCHOLARSHIP DEADLINES OF INSTITUTION(S) YOU ARE CONSIDERING.  INFORMATION IS AVAILABLE IN YOUR GUIDANCE OFFICE.

 

( ) 4.           TAKE ACT OR SAT BY DECEMBER OF SENIOR YEAR.  (SHOULD START IN APRIL OF JUNIOR YEAR).  SCHEDULES OF TESTS AND APPLICATIONS ARE AVAILABLE IN GUIDANCE OFFICE.  SCHOLARSHIP APPLICANTS SHOULD TAKE TEST BY DECEMBER 1st OF SENIOR YEAR.

 

( ) 5.           CHECK WITH COUNSELOR ON SCHOLARSHIPS AND FINANCIAL AID AVAILABLE.  FINANCIAL AID APPLICATIONS ARE AVAILABLE DURING JANUARY OF THE SENIOR YEAR.  (LA. OFFICE OF STUDENT FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE 1-800-259-5626)

 

( ) 6.           STUDENTS WHO ARE PLANNING TO APPLY TO A SERVICE ACADEMY SHOULD CONTACT GUIDANCE COUNSELOR AT BEGINNING OF JUNIOR YEAR.

 

( ) 7.           TAKE PSAT IN OCT. OF JUNIOR YEAR.  REGISTER WITH JUNIOR COUNSELOR.

Concurrent Enrollment Program

A Concurrent-Enrollment Program allows well qualified high school seniors to register in one or more courses at LSU.  Requirements for participation in the program are senior classification, a grade-point average of at least 3.0, an ACT composite score of 27, recommendation of the high school principal and certification that the student has completed the high school's most advanced course in the subject area in which the student wishes to enroll (or that in the principal's judgment, the student is qualified), and the recommendation of the head of the appropriate department of the university.  Concurrent enrollment will be permitted only when space, faculty, and other university facilities can accommodate these students.  (LSU Concurrent Enrollment:  578-1421)

 

Students enrolled in the Concurrent Enrollment Program at LSU will receive college and high school credit for the course(s) taken.
