| Teachers from the Philippines Begin Teaching in EBR

Six new East Baton Rouge Parish School System teachers traveled thousands of miles to begin teaching in a new country. The group was recruited from the Philippines. Monday, September 10th was their first day of teaching in their EBR classrooms. They will teach science, math and special education in five EBR schools. During the summer, middle and high school principals, joined by Human Resources staff, interviewed about 50 candidates via videoconference.
All of the candidates meet the highly qualified standards in the subjects they are teaching. The teachers will work in EBR for the next three years at McKinley High, Belair High, Cedarcrest, Woodlawn, and Westdale middle schools. |
