Release of District Performance Scores Show Dramatic Improvement for EBR - October 14, 2009

According to 2009 School Performance Score results released by the Louisiana State Department of Education on October 13, the East Baton Rouge Parish School System (EBRPSS) showed a dramatic increase in its average School Performance Score. State data shows the overall District Performance Score for EBRPSS increased by 5.7 points, growing from 74.1 points in 2008 to 79.8 this year.

Seventy-eight percent of schools showed growth with 37 schools exceeding state average growth. Thirteen of the 37 schools saw one-year growth greater than 10 points. In addition, 93 percent of schools that are labeled Academically Unacceptable Schools (AUS) by the State Department of Education showed growth.

“I want to thank the students, teachers, principals and parents for their hard work and dedication,” said School System Superintendent John Dilworth. “All indicators used to measure Student Achievement continue to climb here in the East Baton Rouge Parish School System.”

Dilworth added, “We have come a long way in the past five years, and we continue to improve on our student performance rates and test scores.  We still have much to accomplish, but we have strong foundations in place that will continue to show success and improvement each and every year.”
