In just a few years, the East Baton Rouge Parish School System’s Benefits Department has taken the seed of an idea and grown it into healthier lifestyles for employees. Hundreds of current and retired employees turned out for the district’s annual Employee Health Fair, which was held Monday and Tuesday, July 26 and 27, at the School System’s Instructional Resource Center.
The free health fair tested employee blood pressure and vision, allowed for blood donations and offered nutritional, financial and retirement counseling. Edna Siaotong, a Chemistry teacher at Tara High School (left), took advantage of a free eye exam given by Walmart Vision Center Associate Optician Shelby Gray (right). In addition, generous sponsors and vendors were on site, as well, offering information and items for giveaways.
