| BRCVPA Mardi Gras Parade Filled with Lions, Tigers and Bears – and More – Oh, My!

The Baton Rouge Center for Visual & Performing Arts (BRCVPA) was like a “zoo” Friday afternoon, March 4, thanks to kindergarten students dressed up in animal costumes for the school’s annual Mardi Gras Parade.
Students dressed up like an animal they studied this year and decorated wagon floats like the animal’s habitat. Despite the rain, the students’ Big Buddies pulled the wagon floats as the parade wound around the walkways and through a student-filled gymnasium. Kindergarteners threw beads, toys and trinkets to other students, as well as to staff, parents and siblings lining the walkways.
Kindergartener Harper de la Houssaye (first photo) swamped the crowd with beads dressed as an alligator, while “raccoon” Tessa Gordon (second photo) threw beads to students in the gymnasium with the help of “paws” made with mittens and crab claws.
