Staff Completes Career Education Workshop - 01/26/2010

East Baton Rouge Parish School System high school counselors, select administrators and staff from the Office of Career and Technical Education attended a workshop at Baton Rouge Community College to obtain certification in National Career Pathways Leadership.  The Center for Occupational Research and Development (CORD) is the parent organization for this certification.  Participants

were trained in the following areas:  Academic Achievement, Adult Career Pathways, Begin with the End in Mind, Career Pathways Systems, Career Planning, Community Teaming, Curriculum Development – Programs of Study, Economic Development Connections, Perkins and Accountability and Professional Development.

The participants will use this information to form partnerships with all stakeholders involved in the development of a student’s career plan. They received valuable knowledge that will be used to guide a student and their parents to make choices that will provide them with the best possible future career options.  After attending the conference, attendees were presented with a certificate for their hard work throughout the two-day workshop.  While there, the attendees had to evaluate the current status of their programs and develop a working plan on changes that would be made to better their programs.
