On Monday, March 2, 2009, Capitol Elementary began its celebration of Dr. Seuss’ Birthday. Our guest readers included 5 Southern University Naval Science Student that shared Dr. Seuss stories with each kindergarten class. A special highlight of the morning was the presence of Mweldi Moore, a member of the 2009 Superbowl Champion Pittsburg Steelers football team. Mr. Moore accompanied by his mother, Janice Moore, read Oh, the Places We Will Go to 4th grade students. In addition, he autographed Dr. Seuss bookmarks for our students.
The celebration continues throughout the week. On Friday, we will host Carol White from LEA accompanied by Dr. Seuss book characters The Cat In the Hat and Thing 1 and Thing 2. Refreshments will be provided by the LEA.
