Teachers and parents give students the building blocks they need to learn and grow, but sometimes they can use a little outside help. The Clorox Company’s Power A Bright Future grant program can help fund new or ongoing programs that allow children to play, create and explore.  Now through December 9, the public can vote by text or online to help fund new playground equipment at two local schools through this program.
 
Cedarcrest-Southmoor Elementary School needs a new Pre-K playground, and Villa del Rey Elementary School needs new “Gumbo Ya-Ya Playground” equipment.  Votes can be taken online at www.PowerABrightFuture.com ( http://www.powerabrightfuture.com/ ) (where there also is more information) and/or via text once a day.  To text a vote, go to 44144.  The message code is clorox8526 for Cedarcrest-Southmoor votes, and it is clorox1261 for Villa del Rey votes.  You may vote once a day until the December 9 deadline.
 
The project receiving the highest number of votes will be awarded $50,000 in a grand prize grant.  The next top vote-getters will receive $25,000.  An additional school will be selected for a Judge’s Choice Grant of $25,000.
 
Winners will be announced in January 2012.
