Excel, a national industrial contractor, donated a new $4,000.00 “Saw Stop” on January 16, 2008 to Robert E. Lee High School for their carpentry program. Using cutting edge technology, the table saw is scientifically designed to prevent accidents. Steve Gautreau, Excel’s Manager of Training and Recruiting presented the saw to Principal, David Phillips and Carpentry Teacher, Jimmy Taylor of Lee High School. Robert Clouarte, Director of Education and Training for Associated Builders and Contractors was also present.

Excel, in partnership with ABC Pelican chapter, sponsor and work closely with area high schools in southern Louisiana throughout the school year as part of the Louisiana Workforce development process.  “This sponsorship program provides important training aid, material and equipment to our states young students that would not otherwise be possible,” said Gautreau. This program affords students the opportunity to learn a skill while attending high school, which will better prepare them for the workforce upon graduation.
