East Baton Rouge Parish School System Exits District Improvement - Mar 20, 07

Baton Rouge, La. -The East Baton Rouge Parish School System has received official notification from the Louisiana Department of Education that the system has exited District Improvement. The label was removed based on the district's 2005-2006 performance scores.

EBR Schools was placed in District Improvement after failing the students with disabilities subgroup for two years.  According to state accountability guidelines, a district fails a subgroup if it does not make Adequate Yearly Progress at all three levels: elementary, middle and high school.  East Baton Rouge passed the high school level for two consecutive years, which allows the district to exit District Improvement.

Overall, the school district increased its performance score by .2 of a point. This marks the second year that EBR Schools has posted gains in district performance scores.
