EBRPSS Welcomes Library Director in Kicking Off Reading Initiative - Oct 11, 06

"Charlotte's Reading Web"Superintendent Charlotte D. Placide and Lydia M. Acosta, Director, East Baton Rouge Parish Library, officially kicked off Charlotte’s Reading Web,” the Superintendent’s reading club, on Wednesday, October 11th at Crestworth Elementary School.

Placide and Acosta read to students in the library as part of an ongoing district reading and literacy campaign. “Charlotte’s Reading Web” provides opportunities for children in grades Pre-K through 5 to enjoy reading by encouraging participating students to maintain a reading log and complete activities that will be submitted to the Superintendent for judging. Students of winning entries will be invited to share their reading with school board members during their monthly meeting.

Charlotte's Reading WebTo ensure that all students have the ability to participate, books were carefully selected so there would be enough books in schools and local libraries. The program will run through the end of the school year.
