ExxonMobil, Scotlandville Middle Partner in Help Haiti Coin Drive - March 17, 2010

Employees at ExxonMobil’s northernmost Baton Rouge sites partnered with Scotlandville Magnet Pre-Engineering Academy in February and raised just under $2,500 for the Help for Haiti coin drive.  The funds were donated to the American Red Cross to assist victims of the recent earthquakes in Haiti.

In a partnership coordinated by ExxonMobil Community Outreach Team volunteers Blair Anderson (pictured, fourth from left), Mike Kowalski and Paul Huffman, employees raised $800, which was added to the $657 raised by Scotlandville Middle School students. In addition, the ExxonMobil sites matched the $1,457 collected with a $1,000 donation, resulting in a $2,457 total to the American Red Cross.

A group presented a large check to the American Red Cross on Friday, March 12.  Students (left to right, far right) Jonathan Wilson, Brooke Stikes and Scott Sicard; ExxonMobil Plastics Plant Manager Denise Burcham (center); Principal Onetha Albert (second from left); and the school Magnet Program coordinator Leah Brown (far left) helped present the check on behalf of the school to Baton Rouge American Red Cross CEO Bobbi Zaunbrecher (third from left).

"Time after time, ExxonMobil has proven itself to be a lead community partner in not only science education but also as a role model of community service and leadership to our students," said East Baton Rouge Parish School System Superintendent John Dilworth. "This fundraiser for Haiti earthquake victims is just one more example of school partnering to benefit our parish and others globally."
