For the second year running, third-, fourth- and fifth-grade students at Forest Heights Academy of Excellence will be able to attend an orchestra’s concert thanks to the Kinder Morgan Foundation. On August 31, Alan Fore (pictured, standing left of screen) of the Kinder Morgan Foundation presented the school and Principal Myra Varmall (standing, right of screen) with a large check for $2,150.
The Savory Symphony 2 program grant funds students’ attendance at the Baton Rouge Symphony Orchestra’s Discovery Concert in October. It also funds four Symphony Street presentations to lower-grade students in the school of instrumental ensemble performances. All concerts have cross-curricular connections that integrate Musical Arts with Literature, Math, Science and Social Studies.
