Glasgow Middle School Student Gets Jazzy and Wins State Art Award - March 9, 2010

Bringing music alive on canvas netted a Glasgow Middle School student a statewide art award at the Louisiana School Boards Association (LSBA) Convention in Monroe this month.  Last week, seventh grader Amber Johnese’s (pictured) painting of a New Orleans jazz ensemble won her the state’s third-place award from the 2010 LSBA Artwork Contest Selection Committee for her category (fifth through eighth graders).

LSBA is framing and putting all winning artwork on display at its office for one year.  All artwork submitted to the contest also was on display at the Monroe Civic Center March 4-5 during the LSBA Convention.

Johnese earned a plaque and ribbon for her artwork and accepted the honors in person at the convention.  She is a member of Glasgow Middle School’s Talented Art Program.
