Highland Elementary Staff Take Back-to-School Message to the Community During Walkabout - August 9, 2011
A St. George Fire Department fire truck blared its siren, and firefighters threw out candy Monday, August 8, to create a festive atmosphere during Highland Elementary School’s 10th annual Back-to-School Walkabout in the Gardere Lane Neighborhood.  After being dropped off at Helm Drive by buses provided by the Big Buddy Program, Highland Elementary Principal Kaye Van Sickle (pictured in front, left) led a group of teachers and staff, including art teacher Carolyn Neyland (behind Van Sickle, holding a pink umbrella), as they visited students’ homes in the school’s community.  Staff talked with students, parents and guardians to ensure students were registered and prepared for the first day of school, Wednesday, August 10, from day one.
