Cox Communications Employees Collect School Supplies for Students, - August 23, 2011

Cox Communications employees have large hearts and care about the community, as evidenced by the school supply drive they held for elementary students in need enrolled in the East Baton Rouge Parish School System.  On the first day of school, August 10, Cox volunteers surprised Pre-K and other grade-level students at both Highland and Scotlandville elementary schools with the supplies.

At Highland Elementary, Pre-K students were excited to find stuffed goody bags filled with supplies.  In addition, baskets of supplies were left for other grades to enjoy.  On hand for the surprise giveaway at Highland Elementary were: (left to right) intern Catherine Lewis of Cox Communications, kindergartener Bryceson Bedford, teacher Gloria Thudium, kindergartener Vera Colon and Damacia Singleton of Cox Communications.

In all, more than 1,500 supplies were donated by Cox at a value of about $1,000 total.  The supplies included book sacks, pencils, rulers, word games, Crayons and much more.  Cox volunteers also were assisted by volunteers from 100 Black Men.
