Istrouma High Students Raise the Bar: Qualify for State Literary Rally - March 30, 2010

A group of Istrouma High School students are leading the charge in literacy by participating in both the district and state Literary Rallies.  On Saturday, March 20, 10 of the 11 Istrouma students participating in the 2010 Southeast Louisiana District Literary Rally at Southern University qualified to move on to the state competition at Louisiana State University on April 17.  Most scored first or second places, including the area of Physics.

Students qualify for the state rally based on their test scores in respective subjects. There are 43 literary events in all.  For students to be eligible to compete, the school must be a member of both the Southeast Louisiana District Literary Rally Association and the Louisiana High School Rally Association.  Participation is limited to students in grades 9-12 in all public and private schools in the southeastern Louisiana area.  Students can enter an area of competition only if it is taught at their school.
