About 1,000 East Baton Rouge Parish School System students learned about careers and budgeting in the read world on April 28 during the Society of Louisiana CPAs’ (LCPA) and Junior Achievement (JA) Greater Baton Rouge & Acadiana’s third annual Financial Literacy Day.  CPAs and other volunteers gave students a strong foundation in finance decision making by teaching them about work readiness, entrepreneurship and money management through age-appropriate, hands-on activities.  At Riveroaks Elementary School, district Superintendent John Dilworth (right) helped first grader Nakia Okotcha (left) with her lesson.

East Baton Rouge Parish/City Mayor-President “Kip” Holden proclaimed the day LCPA-JA Financial Literacy Day in an effort to encourage all Baton Rouge citizens to do their part in helping children succeed as future members of the local and global economy.
