The Louisiana Council of Exceptional Children (LA CEC) awarded Christopher Jose, a Special Education teacher at Park Forest Middle School, a $500 mini grant this month. The funds from the $500 award will be used to purchase a set of professional grade headphones for use with existing classroom computers. These special headphones are designed to block out distractions in the classroom, allowing students with special needs to increase their attention and focus on individualized computer activities. Every year, LA CEC awards a total of 12 grants valued at up to $500 each. The LA CEC mini grant program is designed to support the education of exceptional children in one of the following ways: educating children with exceptionalities, improving relationships between families and their children with exceptionalities, developing independent living skills or employment of students with exceptionalities or using technology to enhance the education of children with exceptionalities.
