Community Partnership Results in Glasses for Kids!
Two hundred children from the East Baton Rouge Parish School System (EBRPSS) will receive free eye exams and eyeglasses at a mobile clinic provided by the LensCrafters Foundation.
LensCrafters, in partnership with Health Care Centers in Schools (HCCS) and the East Baton Rouge School System (EBRPSS) are organizing the two day mission to deliver eye exams and new glasses to children in need.
The “Vision Van” operates Wednesday and Thursday (February 23 & 24) at the EBRPSS’s Information Resource Center on South Foster Drive.
All students attending are prescreened by school nurses and have appointments to be seen by the Vision Van.
While students are waiting to be screened, EBRPSS employees have scheduled a series of learning stations. Math and Literacy are the focus. Over 40 Celebrity Readers such as Representatives Weston-Broome and Daniel and numerous School Board members, including Superintendent Charlotte D. Placide will be reading to children.
