| Literacy Coach Conducts Reciprocal Teaching Training for Elementary Administrators, Teachers

Lori D. Oczkus, a nationally renowned literacy coach, author and popular education speaker, held a special training October 6 for elementary school administrators and teachers in the East Baton Rouge Parish School System.
The training was called “Reciprocal Teaching at Work (K-12): Powerful Strategies and Lessons for Improving Reading Comprehension.” Working one-on-one in a live demonstration lesson workshop setting with students from Bernard Terrace Elementary School (in picture), Oczkus shared the multiple strategy approach while differentiating instruction in whole class, guided reading and literature circles.
Oczkus is a member of the California Reading Hall of Fame thanks to the California Reading Association and has extensive experience as a bilingual elementary teacher, intervention specialist working with struggling readers, staff developer and literacy coach. Her best-selling book is “Reciprocal Teaching at Work,” which has an accompanying DVD.
