First-Place District Winners: 1-Arielle Williams’ The Blue Possum, 2-Kayla Richardson’s Cultural Fusion and 3-Phillip Hahn’s Gator
With about 89 entries from the East Baton Rouge Parish School System (EBRPSS), three public school students walked away first-place winners, four second-place winners, three third-place winners and seven honorable mention winners in the 2011 Louisiana School Boards Association’s (LSBA) District Level Art Contest held this month.
Now the winners go on to the state competition representing the East Baton Rouge School Board at the LSBA Convention at the Crowne Plaza in Baton Rouge March 2-4. Artwork will be displayed at the convention, including the first-, second- and third-place state winners at each of the three grade levels.
Some students entered the district contest, which had three grade levels, more than once. Each piece of artwork had to represent Louisiana (scenes, products, buildings, people, etc.) and be created with regulation mediums (oil, acrylic, watercolor, pen and ink, charcoal, pastel, crayon, colored pencil, batik or stitchery).
