As part of the women’s basketball team’s Goals, Perseverance and Achievement (GPA) Program, Louisiana State University’s Lady Tigers player Katherine Graham volunteered at Woodlawn Elementary School Thursday, December 17. She read to kindergarteners in teacher Parish Riddle’s class, then conducted basketball drills in the gym with School System Superintendent John Dilworth (in photo), as well as with fifth-grade students and Lady Tiger Associate Head Coach Bob Starkey.
They discussed the program and the importance of community partnerships with schools. Graham also handed out posters and vouchers to students for the February 7 LSU home game against Ole Miss.
This year, the Lady Tiger GPA Program is active in 14 elementary and middle schools throughout the East Baton Rouge Parish School System. Each school has adopted a basketball player. For more information about this program, contact Tom Harlukowicz at (225) 578-6659 or tomh@lsu.edu.
