Retailer ‘Targets’ Melrose Elementary Teacher for Grant - January 22, 2010

The retailer Target recently gave Patty Hebert, a teacher at Melrose Elementary School, one of its 2009-2010 Target Early Childhood Reading Grants.  Target grants support non-profit programs that impact the arts, early childhood reading and family violence prevention.  The Early Childhood Reading Grants support programs that foster a love of reading and encourage children, from birth through age 9, to read together with their families.

Hebert’s winning project, The Book Mobile, is designed to promote a home-to-school connection by providing books for parents to check out and read to and with their children.  She received $2,000 from Target for her project.
