Twenty-Six EBR Students Named 2008 National Merit Semifinalists - Sep 12, 07

Once again EBRPSS leads area school districts in the number of students named National Merit Semifinalists. 26 students from Baton Rouge High School and McKinley High School were named semifinalists.

These academically talented high school seniors have an opportunity to continue in the competition for about 8,200 Merit Scholarship awards. About 90 percent of the 16,000 semifinalists are expected to be named Finalists. More than one million juniors entered the 2008 National Merit Program by taking the 2006 Preliminary SAT(PSAT)/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test.

To become a Finalist, a Semifinalist must have an outstanding academic record throughout high school, be endorsed and recommended by the school principal, and earn SAT scores that confirm the student’s PSAT score.

Congratulations to all the EBR Semifinalists!
