The East Baton Rouge Parish School System is joining other school districts across the country in recognizing "National Bus Safety Week" October 22-26, 2007.

National School Bus Safety Week is a public education program designed to promote school bus safety. It is an excellent way for parents, students, teachers, motorists school bus operators and school administrators to join forces and address the importance of school bus safety. School Bus Safety Week is promoted by the National Association for Pupil Transportation.

The East Baton Rouge Parish School Board also recognized its school bus drivers by proclaiming the week of October 22-26, 2007 "Bus Driver Appreciation Week."

School bus drivers play an important role in the education system by safely transporting students to and from school.
