On Thursday, October 21, Neighbors Federal Credit Union was honored by Volunteers In Public Schools (VIPS) with its Star Partner Award during the East Baton Rouge Parish School Board meeting. Kathi Gill, president and CEO of Neighbors Federal Credit Union, and Ann Marie Erie, Community Outreach coordinator, accepted the honor for the credit union’s extensive work and dedication to the School System.
“In 1954, we were chartered as Baton Rouge Teachers Federal Credit Union, and our service was devoted to the School System. In 2004, we opened our charter to include our entire community of neighbors, but our commitment to the School System has never wavered,” Gill said.
As a partner in education, Neighbors has provided financial education in many schools and supported programs that provide teacher resources and recognize excellence in the classroom. These initiatives include the Brotherhood/Sisterhood Awards, Principal of the Year, Teacher of the Year, Student of the Year, the district’s annual Spelling Bee, Stuff the Bus Food Drive Campaign, Adopt-A-Teacher and many others.
