Eleven members of the East Baton Rouge Parish School Board who will represent the district over the next four-year term were sworn in to office during an official ceremony held Sunday, January 2.
The five new members are: Craig Freeman (District 6), Barbara Freiberg (District 7), Kenyetta Nelson-Smith (District 3), David Tatman (District 1) and Evelyn Ware-Jackson (District 5). They joined current School Board members Jerry Arbour (District 9), *Connie Bernard (District 8), Jill Dyason (District 10), Randy Lamana (District 11), Vereta Lee (District 2) and Tarvald Smith (District 4). *Bernard was sworn in on November 4, 2010.
Immediately following the swearing-in ceremony, the School Board elected its new leadership. Freiberg was elected president of the School Board, while Smith was elected vice president. They will serve in those officer capacities for two years.
The new Board includes (left to right): Freeman, Smith, Ware-Jackson, Tatman, Dyason, Arbour, Bernard, Freiberg, Lamana, Nelson-Smith, Superintendent, John Dilworth and Lee.
