New Teachers Learn What Not to Wear, Other Tips at Seminar - August 4, 2009
Whether it was someone constantly talking on a cell phone while wearing a shirt that exposed her stomach, as Robbyn Wax of the Professional Development Department (pictured) demonstrated, or another clothing faux pas, new teachers learned What Not to Wear at a fashion show in late July.  The fashion show was part of Smart Start, a new teacher orientation sponsored by the East Baton Rouge Parish School System.  Other school district staff also volunteered to model inappropriate clothing choices for teachers.  For instance, Mayfair Middle School Principal Shonel LeDuff wore a tight mini skirt, low-cut blouse and flip-flops.  In addition, professional topics covered for new teachers included Classroom Management for Effective Teaching and What Every New EBR Teacher Needs to Know, which encompassed new teacher support, content-specific sessions, secondary literacy and LEAP, iLEAP and Edusoft.
