No More Lines for Pre-K Roundup! - January 10, 2012

The East Baton Rouge Parish School System has revised the process for applying to participate in the Pre-K Program at elementary schools during the 2012-2013 school year.  Long lines and camping out are a thing of the past because the new process will include a lottery for available positions.

The Pre-K Roundup Application kick-off will be the Preschool Palooza, which will be held at Cortana Mall 10 a.m.-2 p.m. January 21, 2012.  The event will highlight internal and external early childhood provider services.  Informational application packets will be available regarding the school district programs.

Interested parents also can get packets at their school of preference between 9 a.m. and 2 p.m. January 23-27, 2012, which is the Pre-K Roundup Application Period, OR by visiting http://pre-k.ebrschools.org/.  However, completed applications only will be accepted at schools of preference during the designated hours January 23-27, 2012.  A completed application packet must contain a copy of the original birth certificate, a copy of the Social Security card, an updated shot record, two proofs of residency in the School System’s attendance area and a copy of a current, valid piece of personal identification.

Parents will receive acceptance and non-acceptance notifications in the mail with instructions February 13-17, 2012.  If needed, they will participate in a second application period that begins February 20, 2012, and continues until all available spaces have been filled.
