No one yelled foul when several East Baton Rouge Parish School System teachers crossed the finish line recently during the school district’s Coaching Workshop. That’s because all of them made a touchdown when it comes to enlarging their teaching potential.
Over a three-day workshop hosted by the Office of Professional Development, teachers were trained in being a coach, communicator, adult-learner teacher and negotiator of learning agreements. Reading, math and instructional teacher coaches, content trainers and literacy trainers all took part in the event, which included interactive sessions on how to work with adult learner, presentation skills, communication skills and much more. All participants earned their lanyards and whistles, as well as the book “Coaching Approaches and Perspectives” by Jim Knight.
