South Boulevard Elementary Recognized by State Senate for Award - May 5, 2010

On Thursday, April 22, South Boulevard Elementary Foreign Language Academic Immersion Magnet School was recognized at the Louisiana State Senate.  Senate Resolution No. 27, submitted by Sen. Yvonne Dorsey, recognized and commended the school for receiving the 2010 Award of Excellence by Magnet Schools of America. 

Magnet Schools of America provides leadership for innovative instructional programs that promote equity, diversity and academic excellence for all students in public schools.  South Boulevard’s focus is foreign language academic immersion.  Students in grades K-5 study the academic subjects of Math, Science and Social Studies totally in the languages of French or Spanish.  Students are bilingual by the end of fifth grade.
