School Board members and a few administrators were on the road Wednesday, March 11, as they began touring the Jackson Public School District in Mississippi. A tentative schedule has Board members visiting the Montgomery School District on Wednesday, March 18.

The purpose of the tours is to get more information about the final two candidates for the position of superintendent of East Baton Rouge Parish Schools System (EBRPSS).  Recently, the School Board narrowed its choice of candidates from three to two, following the application withdrawal of candidate Dr. John Covington, superintendent of Pueblo City Schools in Colorado.

The two candidates now vying for the superintendent’s position here are John Dilworth, superintendent of Montgomery Public Schools, and Dr. Bonita Coleman-Potter, deputy superintendent of Instruction for the Jackson Public School District in Mississippi.

School Board members who visited the Jackson school district on Wednesday included: President Jerry Arbour, Vice President Jonathan Augustine, Tarvald Smith and  Darryl Robertson. Also joining the group was EBRPSS Director for Communications and Community Engagement Chris Trahan and EBRPSS attorney Domoine Rutledge.
