Register Now, School Starts August 7 - July 14, 2008

If a student is new or changing schools, register now!  Parents or legal guardians can register a child at their assigned school this summer any time between 7 am and 5 pm Monday through Thursday.  During summer hours, schools and School System offices are closed on Fridays.  Beginning Monday, July 28, the School System returns to regular hours, 8 am-4:30 pm Monday through Friday.

For most people, the process is relatively easy and is completed at the child’s assigned home school.  Registration requires two current utility bills (a water/sewer, phone, cable or electric bill current within 30 days), a photo ID and a drop slip / report card from the previous school if applicable.  Students new to the district also need a birth certificate, Social Security card and shot record.  A parent or legal guardian must register the child.

If the parent/guardian lives with someone else and has no bills in his/her name, the registration process requires additional documentation, and the parent/guardian will be sent to the Office of Child Welfare and Attendance to register. In additional to all items mentioned above, the parent/guardian will need to purchase an affidavit of residency from a notary public.  This sworn statement must accurately state the living arrangements of the family.  Providing false information on an affidavit is a felony.

If you are uncertain about your child’s home school assignment, go to the following link on our Web site, http://tsdweb.ebrpss.k12.la.us/public/home.cfm.  For that information, you also can call the EBRPSS Transportation Department at (225)226-3784.  If you have additional questions about registration, call your child’s assigned home school or Child Welfare and Attendance at (225)226-3449 or (225)226-3643.  Child Welfare and Attendance is located at the Choctaw Administrative Center, 2875 Michelli Dr., in Room 10.
