Shenandoah Elementary Holds Academic Olympics - February 3, 2012
Classrooms across Shenandoah Elementary School were bustling today, February 3, as students took turns participating in activities as part of the school’s Academic Olympics.  Students measured the length of beads on strings, the width of jumps over a rubber-snake filled “Atchafalaya Basin,” the time it took to collect beads on “Bourbon Street,” the weight of money vs. other objects and much more during the event.  It was a way of incorporating math and science into fun activities for students.  For instance, first graders (pictured, left to right) Gracyn Falcon, Maddie Snoddy, Kailey Threeton and Ashleigh Bell, visited the “Consumers & Producers” station, where they had to count up enough play money to purchase snacks.
