Sprucing Up South Boulevard Elementary for the First Day of School - August 7, 2009

Paint brushes, brooms and books were just some of the tools in demand Friday and Saturday, July 31 and August 1, at South Boulevard Foreign Language Academic Immersion Magnet School (FLAIM).  Parents, students and staff gathered both days to put a shine on the campus before the first day of public school in East Baton Rouge Parish, August 7.

Exterior windows were scraped and painted.  Classrooms were cleaned and organized.  And the campus landscape was tidied.

East Baton Rouge Parish School System Superintendent John Dilworth (pictured right with parent Shannon Plauché) and School Board member W.T. Winfield stopped by and thanked volunteers for all their hard work.  In addition, City Councilwoman Tara Wicker and her children helped clean up the school.

The work day was organized by Larry Broussard, the grandfather of a first-grade French student, with the assistance of the schools Parent Teacher Organization.
