School System Health Fair - July 16, 2009

What:       School System Health Fair

When:      9 a.m.-4 p.m. Tuesday and Wednesday, July 21 and 22

Where:     Instructional Resource Center, 1050 South Foster Dr. (the building adjacent to the Central Office)

Current employees and retirees of the East Baton Rouge Parish School System are invited to attend the first-ever School System Health Fair July 21 and 22.  They can participate in free health screenings, sit in on health-related presentations, pick up informational packets and samples and even win some prizes.

All day each day there will be screenings available for blood pressure and vision, as well as a blood drive and nutritional counseling. 

On Tuesday, 30-minute presentations will be held on:  dental and vision benefits (9:45 a.m.), portion control and calorie needs (10:30 a.m.), understanding nutrition facts (1:30 p.m.), saving for retirement (2:15 p.m.) and flexible spending accounts (3 p.m.).

On Wednesday, presentations will be held on:  flexible spending accounts (9:45 a.m.), saving for retirement (10:30 a.m.), understanding nutrition facts (1:30 p.m.), portion control and calorie needs (2:15 p.m.) and dental and vision benefits (3 p.m.).

Drawings also will be held for prizes ranging from a duffle bag and umbrellas to backpacks and pedometers.  Several sponsors will have booths on site, as well, including:  AlwaysCare, the East Baton Rouge Federation of Teachers, Louisiana Association of Educators, Nationwide Better Health, YMCA, hospitals, insurers and many others.
