$33,000 in Supplies Stuffed the Buses
- July 28, 2008

Tracy Portle, volunteer director of Volunteers in Public Schools, was surrounded by a sea of boxes last week as she led the counting and distributing of school supplies from the WBRZ’s Stuff the Bus with School Supplies drive. All last week, volunteers from across East Baton Rouge helped organize donated items, like pens, paper, rulers and glue, in boxes to be distributed to elementary and middle school students in the East Baton Rouge Parish School System. The first-ever event, held July 17 at Office Depot, was such a success, two buses were filled with $33,000 in school supplies donated by community members. Support also came from co-sponsor Raising Cane’s.
