Tara High School Show Choir Set to Lead Thanksgiving Day Parade in Philadelphia - Nov 22, 06

The Tara High School Show Choir is traveling to Philadelphia, Pennsylvania to lead the 2006 Thanksgiving Day Parade which will be held on Thursday, November 23, 2006. The parade starts at 8:00 am EST and will conclude at 12:00 pm EST. The choir will be the first musical act along the parade route.  The Philadelphia Thanksgiving Day Parade is the nation's oldest Thanksgiving Day Parade, dating back to 1920.

The Tara High School choir members left by train this morning and are currently on their way to participate in the parade. They are expected to arrive in Philadelphia Tomorrow. At the end of the parade route, the choir members will join four other choirs from around the country to perform on the steps of the Philadelphia Art Museum at 10:00 am.

While in Philadelphia, choir members will also help assemble and deliver special Thanksgiving Day gift bags to the Philadelphia Ronald McDonald House.  Local area grocery stores donated items that will be included in the package.

In addition to performing in the parade and delivering packages to the Ronald McDonald house, choir members and other Tara High School officials will also have an opportunity to learn about events that helped shape our country by visiting the home of Betsy Ross and the site of the Liberty Bell.

The 11 choir members will be accompanied by Choir Director Dana Lux, and several parent chaperons.
