Golf Tournament Benefits Northdale Academy, Teach for America - November 11, 2011

On October 3, a golf tournament to benefit Northdale Magnet Academy and Teach for America was sponsored by school partners to raise funds for the school and the program. This is an annual event that raised $9,217.89 total this year.

This year, the tournament was held at the University Club. Pictured at the tournament are (left to right): Brian Landry, Louisiana Association of Business and Industry (LABI), Small Business Council director and Technology Advocacy Council director; LaJean Farmer, LABI office manager and Event coordinator; Northdale Principal Leroy Helire; and Michael Tipton of Teach For America. Dan Juneau, the president of LABI since 1989, serves as co-chair of Northdale Academy's School Improvement Team.

On another note, the school held its Black and Gold school-wide football incentive October 13 to help foster a positive school climate and as a reward for positive behavior throughout the school.

The student body was promised homecoming activities and a football game based on positive behavior. Students had to demonstrate the site’s school-wide expectations, including the motto to care, having the courage to do what is right, attend school daily, respect themselves and others and strive for excellence. At the reward game, students were able to spend Helire Dollars at the concession stand.
