Out of 78 individual schools’ Teachers of the Year, nine exemplary finalists for the district-wide titles were named at the Wednesday, April 21, recognition luncheon.  Held at the Louisiana Country Club, the lunch honored all school winners and the district contenders.

The finalists are:
Elementary School: Lacy B. Caime, Northeast Elementary; Earlisha Whitfield, Ryan Elementary; Sadie Payne-Woods, Bernard Terrace Elementary; Middle School: Vanessa Bloss, Woodlawn Middle; Deborah A. Facey, Westdale Middle; Amy Clark Rivet, Glasgow Middle; and High School: Sandra Hernandez Evans, Woodlawn High; Dana Todd Lux, Tara High; and Peter Oelschlaeger, Baton Rouge Magnet High.

Three district-wide 2011 Teachers of the Year winners – one from each grade level -- will be revealed at a reception in May thanks to a partnership with the Neighbors Federal Credit Union and Volunteers in Public Schools.  That reception is scheduled for 4:30 p.m. Tuesday, May 4, at the Instructional Resource Center (next to Central Office) on South Foster.  Those East Baton Rouge Parish School System winners next compete on the state level.
