U.S. Department of Ed Reps Back to Tour More Blue Ribbon Schools - March 17, 2010

Blue Ribbon schools in the East Baton Rouge Parish School System (EBRPSS) are to be used as a role model of best teaching practices following visits by U.S. Department of Education representatives.  A team already visited Sherwood Middle Academic Magnet School in February to record teachers in action for the national Web site.

Now they are back to look at some of the school district’s other Blue Ribbon schools and staff best practices at each site.  Aba S. Kumi, director of the national Blue Ribbon Schools Program, and her supervisor, Will Tanner, senior director of the U.S. Department of Education’s Recognition Programs, will tour four other Blue Ribbon schools in the district on Thursday, March 18:  Glasgow Middle (7:45 a.m.), Forest Heights Academy of Excellence (9:15 a.m.), Westdale Heights Academic Magnet (11 a.m. with lunch) and Shenandoah Elementary schools (1 p.m.).

For more information, contact Kumi at Aba.Kumi@ed.gov.
