It was good news for United Way funding following the East Baton Rouge Parish School System’s 2008 campaign. Teachers, administrators, staff and students raised almost $60,000 despite a delay due to Hurricane Gustav and the current economic conditions.
At last night’s School Board meeting, the three top fund-raising sites in the School System were recognized by Edith Wright (left) of Capital Area United Way.
Of the total $59,937.30 raised by School System sites, the top campaigns were:
First place - CHRISTA McAULIFFE CENTER - $ 2,725 (site campaign coordinator 0Brenda French, second from left)
Second place - PARK FOREST MIDDLE SCHOOL -
$ 2,626 (site campaign coordinator Brenda Roberts, second from right)
Third place - WESTDALE MIDDLE SCHOOL - $ 2,296 (site campaign coordinator Sherry Brock, right)
