Business Leader and Principal Partner to Strengthen Public Education - March 17, 2011

Volunteers In Public Schools (VIPS) hosts its final Partners In Education Business Luncheon of the 2010-2011 series on Wednesday, March 30, 11:15 a.m. at D Jon’s Restaurant.  Keynote speaker Dan Juneau, President of Louisiana Association of Business & Industry (LABI), will highlight LABI’s 15-year partnership with Northdale Magnet Academy and discuss why LABI invests in public education.

Northdale Magnet Academy’s Principal, Leroy Helire, who will also share how long-standing community partners like LABI have benefitted the students and school and how a strong Principal-CEO relationship is key to successful partnerships.  Principal Helire states, “Effective, purposeful education occurs when all stakeholders are empowered and involved in the educational decision making process. We must continually strive to become better.”

The Business Luncheon is open to the public and reservations are made on a first-come, first-served basis.  The Luncheon begins at 11:15am at D Jon’s Restaurant (5255 Florida Blvd.) and runs until approximately 12:30pm.  The cost of lunch is $18.  To reserve your seat at the March 30 Luncheon, please call 226-4706 or email alau@ebrschools.org by March 25.

The VIPS Partners In Education Business Luncheon Series provides the business community an opportunity to discuss current issues facing public education and offers direct opportunities for making a significant impact through school partnership.
