Volunteer! Baton Rouge School Tools Drive Reaches 10 EBRPSS Schools - Aug 21, 06

Superintedent Placide with VolunteersThe Corporate Volunteer Council (CVC) of Volunteer! Baton Rouge collected over $10,000 in school supplies during its School Tools drive Aug. 5.  Sixty-seven volunteers collected and sorted the supplies which were distributed to 11 EBR elementary schools and 2 WBR elementary schools.

 

Participating companies were American Gateway Bank, Capital One Bank, Cox Communications, Episcopal High School students, ExxonMobil, Embassy Suites, Honeywell, La Capitol Federal Credit Union, the Louisiana Lottery Corporation, LSU Career Services, Neighbors Federal Credit Union and the Port Allen Rotary. 

 

Robert Stockwell, Chief Academic Officer,  with VolunteersSix area Wal Marts: Cortana, College Drive, O’Neal Lane, Port Allen, Siegen Lane, Sullivan Road; and Hubbens Grocery in Port Allen allowed CVC members and school and community volunteers to collect for school supplies in front of their stores on Aug. 5. 

 

The following schools received supplies from this drive: In EBRPSS:   Belfair Montessori Magnet, Bernard Terrace, Dufrocq, Glen Oaks Park, Greenville, Jefferson Terrace, Melrose, Sharon Hills, South Blvd. and Villa del Rey.

 

The Corporate Volunteer Council is a coalition of businesses which recognizes the critical importance of volunteerism in the community.  Its mission is to promote, encourage and foster volunteerism among corporations and businesses within the capital area.  Volunteer Baton Rouge! is dedicated to mobilizing people and resources to deliver creative solutions to community needs.
