WBIC, VIPS Throw Holiday Reading Party - January 19, 2012
Members of We Believe In Children (WBIC), a program initiated by Volunteers In Public Schools (VIPS) to provide opportunities for faith organizations to build partnerships with public schools, organized a Holiday Reading Party for teacher Marietta Franklin’s pre-kindergarten class at Audubon Elementary School on December 21. Linda Hammond, a member of University Baptist Church, read “Rudolph the Red Nose Reindeer” to the class, and Leslie Vincent, a member of Shiloh Baptist Church, led the class in making reindeer puppets. Jenola Duke of Broadmoor United Methodist Church and Wayne Tyson of Turner Industries were on hand to sing the popular holiday song and help students assemble their puppets.

Members of St. Luke’s Episcopal Church and Goodwood Church of Christ were invited to the Holiday Reading Party to experience firsthand one of the many activities that WBIC members participate in to support academic success in schools. For more information about WBIC, contact Kevin Tucker at (225) 226-4706.
