Whole Foods Donates 5 Percent of Sales to EBR Acceleration Academy
- January 22, 2009

Whole Foods Market has a whole lot of love for the East Baton Rouge Acceleration Academy, as evidenced by a donation the Towne Center store made to the school recently.
On January 15, called January 5% Community Giving Day, the store pledged 5 percent of all sales that day to the Academy. That came to a whopping $4,241.65 in all. In addition, Academy students and staff manned an information booth about the school at the store that day, including art teacher Stephanie Griffin and Social Studies teacher Jamari Tillman (see photo).
The store has asked some of the funds be used to support the school’s agriculture program and greenhouse. The donation will be placed in the school’s general operating budget. For more information, call Whole Foods’ Libby Quintana at (225) 218-0452, Ext. 262.
